The Mannheim Institute of Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine (MIPH) is part of Heidelberg University, Germany. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Joachim Fischer (MSc), it comprises a multidisciplinary team of scientists, doctoral students, and administrative staff actively involved in research and teaching. MIPH’s primary mission is to develop and implement innovative and comprehensive strategies for health protection and disease prevention within society. Its projects, carried out in various sectors of society, concentrate on public health research within social, psychological, and biological contexts.

MIPH places a special focus on inter- and transdisciplinary approaches as well as on a wide range of methods in both its research and teaching. It offers lectures and seminars in general medicine, society and health, occupational medicine, and health economics within its medical curriculum MaReCuM. It also mentors doctoral students in their dissertation research. As a new offer for interested students the "Strukturierte Doktorandenprogramm" will allow to do a doctor's degree in Health Economics.
