Mannheim Institute of Public Health

The Mannheim Institute of Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine (MIPH) was founded in 2006 as part of the Medical Faculty Mannheim at Heidelberg University. The Institute is led by Prof. Dr. Joachim E. Fischer, MD, MSc. and supported by a multi-disciplinary team of internal scientific and administrative staff, as well as national and international experts.

The MIPH’s primary goal is to develop and implement innovative and holistic strategies for disease prevention and health promotion within society. The scientific focus lies on Public Health questions in the bio-psycho-social context. Multi-faceted research projects, targeting all age groups, are pursued in order to contribute to overcoming social gradients in health.
